We’ve all heard of the PayPal mafia: from one Silicon Valley startup a host of other companies was born — Elon Musk founded Tesla (among many others), Reid Hoffmann founded LinkedIn, Chad Hurley, Steven Chen and Jawed Karim founded Youtube, Russel Simmons and Jeremy Stoppelman founded Yelp, … the list goes on! It seems some startups are not only companies but also true breeding grounds for future successful entrepreneurs.
In our interview with smallpdf founder Dennis Just we talked about the DeinDeal Mafia, which, though on a much smaller (Swiss) scale, reproduced the PayPal phenomenon. Ever since then, the same question has been popping up in our head time and time again: what other Swiss startup mafias are out there? Eventually, we gave in to our curiosity and fell down a dizzying LinkedIn rabbit hole — and this is the result!
